SportsTo participate in sports at MLS you must have a physical form on file. Download the Physical Form Where you learn that running far is fun – and not as hard as you thought! Since that time, MLS has won 16 conference titles and one state championship. We presently offer competition at the junior varsity and varsity levels. All boys in grades 9-12 are welcome to join, even if they do not have prior experience playing football. Head Coach: Prof. Karl Schmugge (kms@mlsem.org) Link to M-Live comments: http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/school/saginaw-saginaw-michigan-lutheran-seminary/football/ MLS volleyball is a fall sport and consists of a freshman, JV and varsity team. During the week the teams compete in conference and non-conference games. On several weekends during the season, the teams compete in different tournaments hosted by various schools throughout the area. The varsity team was the TVC West conference champions, district champions, and regional champions. We were two points from making it to the state semi-finals. This year we will again have all three teams: freshmen, JV, and varsity. Girls Basketball The Lady Cardinals play in the Tri-Valley West Conference. In 2009 they finished as co-champs with a 13-1 record and 21-4 overall. In 2010 they finished 12-1-, 4th in the conference. 2011 was a rebuilding year but one in which Seminary still finished 4th and played in the district finals. 2012 looks to be another very good year as all players from the team return except for 2 who graduated. Since 1964 MLS has competed on the mats. With 14 weight classes from 103 lbs. to 285, we try to involve as many boys as possible both on a JV and varsity level. The team is coached by Prof. Marcus Bode and Tutor Andrew Naumann. Baseball is one of the sports offered in the spring. At the present time we field a JV team usually made up of freshmen and sophomores and a varsity team made up of juniors and seniors. We play between twenty and thirty games a season during the months of April and May. MLS Softball has teams at both the J.V. and Varsity level. The Varsity plays 25-40 games a season including 2-4 tournaments. Many of our players have made the All Conference Teams, All Area Teams, and All State Teams. We are competitive even with some of the best teams in the state. Track has a rich tradition at MLS. Our team competes in 16 different events from sprints to distance running and from jumps to weight events. This makes track a sport that is suitable for all athletes. We encourage a high rate of participation and our athletes, regardless of their ability, are given many opportunities to compete. The training our athletes receive helps to keep them physically fit and has proven beneficial for athletes preparing for other sports, as well. Our varsity head coaches are Kathy Kock for the girls and Robert Schroer for the boys. |
