TeachersMichigan Lutheran Seminary teachers are different from other high school teachers in America. They have the titles professor or tutor. The first term is historical and emphasizes that MLS is a college-preparatory school, not a typical high school. The second term is a special position peculiar to our WELS schools. It identifies young men and women whose main responsibility is supervising the school’s dorm life, but these people have teaching and extracurricular responsibilities, too. MLS teachers have been trained to be teachers, or they have been trained as pastors. With the exception of the tutors, MLS teachers have served in a congregation or a mission or a Lutheran elementary school before coming to MLS. All our teachers are WELS Christians. They all are certified to teach by our synod. Most have at least one graduate degree. The men all lead our chapel services, and most of the women assist by playing or directing worship music. MLS teachers are all leaders of extracurricular activities and involved with students outside the classroom. Some of the teachers share adminstration duties with the president. All of our teachers are recruiters for ministry who encourage our students to prayerfully consider preparing for full time service in our Wisconsin Synod as pastors, teachers, missionaries, or staff ministers. All of our teachers encourage our students to attend Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota. Current FacultyTutor Rebecca Amann - rra@mlsem.org Dr. William Zeiger - wez@mlsem.org |
