President

The president is the chief administrator of the school, but at MLS he is much more than that:

  • He is the head pastor of the school, who with the dean of students oversees the proclamation of law and gospel to the campus family in the classroom, in worship, in counseling, and in discipline.
  • The MLS president is a teacher, unlike most school administrators in America.  He teaches one of the four religion courses and is in the classroom and hallways of MLS like everyone else.
  • The president of MLS is the man who works the closest with the governing board of the school, so he knows and understands all aspects of the school’s programs.
  • The president is the chief spokesman for MLS.  He represents the school at many meetings each year.
  • He is a preacher who speaks not only from the MLS chapel’s pulpit but also at many WELS churches near and far away.
  • The MLS president is the leader of the school.  He makes sure that all are focused on our Savior and his gospel and that all know the mission of Michigan Lutheran Seminary: To train students for the public ministry of the gospel and to enroll them upon graduation at Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota.
  • The president of MLS is a recruiter for ministry.  He encourages all MLS students to prayerfully consider preparing for full time service in our Wisconsin Synod as pastors, teachers, missionaries, or staff ministers.
