Dormitory Life

“So you mean to tell me that you’re letting your 14 year old child go away for high school and live in a dormitory?!”  That’s a question that has been asked of many Seminary parents.  Becoming a dormitory student at Michigan Lutheran Seminary – and a parent whose child is away at school- is something that brings with it many questions, fears, and doubts.

Rest assured that you and your family are not alone if you have  asked yourself “how in the world does this work?!”  You can also rest assured that your child is well taken care of, nurtured, and loved while staying here on campus.  Watched over by dormitory instructors (aka “tutors”) who live in the dormitory with the students, and overseen by the dean of students and Interdorm office manager, your student’s physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing is our primary focus.

From being on campus for the first time as a tiny 9th grader, to packing up your belongings for the final time as a Senior, having 2/3 of Seminary’s students living in the dormitory helps forms a bond and closeness that not only lasts a few years, but a lifetime.
